The upcoming Maricopa Water District (MWD) Division 2 election is a unique opportunity for landowners to shape the future of water management in our community. Unlike general elections, this is an acreage-based vote, meaning only eligible property owners within Division 2 can participate — and your vote carries weight based on the land you own.
Here’s everything you need to know to make your voice heard.
✅ Who Can Vote?
To vote in the Division 2 election, you must:
Own real property within the district’s taxable boundaries
Have held ownership for at least 90 days prior to Election Day
Provide a valid photo ID that includes your home address
Your name will be checked against the official voter roster at the polling location, and you’ll be asked to sign an affidavit confirming your eligibility.

📍 What Is Acreage-Based Voting?
The Maricopa Water District election is conducted through acreage-based voting, meaning votes are weighted based on the amount of real property owned within the district. This ensures that those most invested in the land and water resources have a proportional voice.
To help visualize who can vote in the Division 2 election, please refer to the official Division 2 Map. Division 2 is highlighted in orange and is generally bounded by:
Beardsley Road to the north
McDowell Road to the south
Sarival Avenue to the east
Citrus Road to the west

🌾 Who are Urban Irrigators?
If you’re a resident who flood irrigates your acreage, this election directly affects you. Urban irrigators are a vital part of the MWD community, and your voice deserves representation. Whether you irrigate for farming, landscaping, or maintaining green space — your vote helps shape the policies and priorities that impact water delivery, infrastructure, and long-term sustainability.
I’m running to represent urban irrigators like you, and I’m committed to ensuring your needs are heard and respected at the Board level.
